Spells
Spells can have beneficial or detrimental long term effects on a realm, or they can destroy land, buildings, peasants and military units, and Wonders. When you launch a spell at another realm, you gain nothing, but you can destroy the victim's land, and the buildings on that land, kill peasants and destroy units, or you can cause beneficial effects. Destructive spells do less damage when used against a realm that is much larger or much smaller than yours. When you cast any spell at a Wonder, the spell energy will damage that Wonder and perhaps destroy it.

Spells are prepared and cast from the Spell Control Center. If the victim's Magic Shields are powered, there is a chance your spells will be blocked (spells cast at yourself are never blocked, but your Magic Resistance may prevent them from working). To cast a spell that you have completed preparing, just specify what realm or Wonder you want to cast the spell at and click the "cast" button for that spell.

There are several levels of spells that you can prepare. The following table gives the costs, effects, and the destruction potential of each spell.

**Note** Spells from the light School of magic always penertrate magic shields, light magic users receive a small spell honor penalty to offset this.
